In 2022, Burns Engineering reached out to IDR to install a Kisi access control system at their NYC office. What started as a single-project relationship quickly evolved into something more: a national partnership built on trust, consistency, and execution.

Phase 1: Getting Started

Burns first brought IDR in for:

NYC – Kisi installation

St. Louis – Kisi installation

NYC Relocation – Kisi installation at a new office space

The success of those early projects — paired with Burns' frustrations working with other vendors — prompted a shift in how they approached low voltage.

Phase 2: Becoming the Go-To Team

After a failed Kisi install by another vendor in Philadelphia, and poor performance from a data cabling vendor in NYC, Burns turned to IDR to take over:

Orlando, FL – Service support

Philadelphia, PA – Repaired access control issues, added new readers, corrected power mismatches

Tampa, FL – Full data cabling with Belden RevConnect + Kisi install

Developed a color-coded cabling standard with the Burns IT team

Boston, MA – Full cabling + Kisi system

Pittsburgh, PA – Full cabling + Kisi system for office expansion

Los Angeles, CA – Full cabling + Kisi system for a new office

Each location required clear communication, technical precision, and fast coordination with Burns' internal IT team — which IDR delivered every time.

A True Working Partnership

Today, Burns relies on IDR for:

New office buildouts and expansions

Ongoing tech support for Kisi systems

Standardization across all sites

Direct escalation to Kisi support through IDR when needed

Together, we've built a process for rollout and execution that scales efficiently across regions — no retraining, no surprises.

"We don't just install for Burns. We collaborate, solve, and help shape the way they think about technology across all of their offices."

Client Feedback

"Mike and his team are an integral part of our team when we work on establishing new offices or moving offices. The folks at IDR work hand in hand with the Burns team for everything access management, low voltage wiring, rack installations and WAP placement. Mike’s team of professionals has helped us nationwide with all of our locations for the past 4 years. We value IDR’s partnership and recommend them highly."
