The Problems:
Fairstead reached out to IDR after experiencing persistent issues with surveillance systems at two residential properties in Virginia and Florida. The systems — installed by a previous vendor — suffered from serious flaws including:
• Water-damaged switches and POE injectors due to improperly sealed NEMA boxes
• Unlabeled, misaligned wireless bridges
• Cameras pointed incorrectly and improperly installed
• IP conflicts and misconfigured networks
• Recorders not connected to the internet — and in one case, missing a hard drive entirely
• Zero remote access or mobile app integration
• No documentation or drawings provided by the original vendor
The Solution:
IDR's team conducted a full on-site inspection at both locations. We rebuilt the systems from the ground up:
• Replaced damaged switches, POE injectors, and components
• Resealed all conduits and weatherproofed all connections
• Re-aligned bridges and reinstalled camera hardware
• Assigned static IPs and configured remote access for all devices
• Setup mobile app access and onsite viewing stations
• Created and delivered full site documentation and as-built records
