The Challenge
Upway installed a Rhombus camera system with security monitoring to keep their outdoor areas secure. But they ran into a snag: the Rhombus annunciator available at the time was designed for indoor use — and simply wasn't loud enough to deter activity outdoors.
The Fix
IDR stepped in and got creative. We integrated a 70V outdoor-rated speaker system with a power amplifier, giving the announcement volume a serious boost. By running a low-voltage connection directly from the Rhombus camera to the amp, we maintained seamless integration while dramatically improving performance.
Now, whenever loitering is detected by the Rhombus system, the outdoor annunciator blasts a clear, forceful message — and it's loud enough to be taken seriously. The client has peace of mind knowing the system actively responds in real time, with the volume to back it up.
